Letters from our clients…

After visiting Skyline Drive many times over the past ten years we decided that we wanted to build a chalet with a view of the mountains.  We found Licking Valley Construction on the Internet and contacted Kathy Welch for information on available lots and chalet models.  Kathy sent information to us on a number of available lots and was able to locate one that we liked fairly quickly.   She also introduced us to Bo Welch who builds chalets, and we met with him and Kathy to look at various models.

With Kathy and Bo’s help, we bought a lot with a great view and in a location that was easily accessible.  We also selected a chalet model to be built on the lot.  During the construction we worked with Bo to “fine tune” the layout of the floor plan and to select various interior features such as the ceiling fans, granite, tiles, fireplace mantel, and kitchen appliances.

Bo was extremely helpful during the construction and assisted us with decisions that allowed us to have a finished chalet that met all of our specifications.  He was very patient and cooperative at every step, from siting the chalet to designing the interior.  He was a pleasure to work with and made the project relatively stress-free, which is no small task!

If you are in the market for a lot and/or a chalet in the mountains, we highly recommend Licking Valley Construction.   You will be delighted with the service you get and the end result.  Both Kathy and Bo will work with you at every step of the process to ensure that you are a satisfied customer.

“Best house we ever owned!”

We bought this home from a couple who sold it to us about a year after they purchased. The house is very tight and warm in winter. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths and a finished lower level that serves as an office/library and family room. The outside is hardboard, a cement based product that is impervious to insects and woodpeckers. We will never have to paint it. The finishes inside are very nice and the house is easy to keep looking nice. The only thing we added was tinting to the chalet windows which made the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Although we are the second owner, the builder answers our questions and helps us solve any issues related to the property. This is quite unusual in the city where we used to live and we very much appreciate it. I will be 70 next year so probably won't buy another house, but if I do, it will be from Bo Welch, Licking Valley Construction.

I cannot begin to describe how happy we are with our new home that Licking Valley Construction built for us. The builder went out of his way to make sure everything on our property was perfect, and even continues to follow up with us to make sure everything is running smoothly. The house itself is amazing, so many upgrades come standard. Would highly recommend Licking Valley to anyone looking for a great, quality home built by honest people.

Bo and his crew are professional, talented and friendly which is a plus but we also value that Bo openly communicated with us during the process and he is a very honest person. Our home is more than we could have wished for and we love it. We would not hesitate to recommend Bo to any of our family or friends.

We had the honor of collaborating with builder David "Bo" Welch, his brothers, and agent Kathy Song, to build our new home from the ground up in Clarke County, VA.

A home purchase is one of life's most vital investments, and the Licking Valley Construction team fully supported the process.  We were in good hands from day one and we created a lifelong friendship with the team.

Bo's integrity, openness, willingness to listen, friendliness, and laid back personality compliments his extraordinary craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unique sense of style.

Aside from the fact that our new home is beautifully flawless, we are honored to call Bo, his brothers, and Kathy Song our new friends.

We are 100% certain you will love Licking Valley Construction's craftsmanship and contemporary chalet style.  We invite you to visit our home to see for yourself.  Contact Bo or Kathy for a full walk-thru of our dream on Paris Heights Mountain- near the intersections of Rte. 601 and Rte. 50, in Clarke County, VA.

Virginia is for lovers!

We purchased rural land in Warren County, Virginia in March 2008 and began an extended process to select a home construction contractor. After multiple interviews of other builders we were referred to Bo Welch of Licking Valley Construction (“LVC”) by a friend who has a land development business. Like many people, we first looked at the LVC website and were impressed with the most recent completed home photos and the suggested building plan illustrations. We have previously had a larger home completed by a design and build contractor so were familiar with the process. Our introduction to Bo Welch was a rewarding experience. He listened to our design objectives and upsized an attractive “chalet” plan to accommodate a minimum house size covenant. More important, Bo made multiple suggestions and offered interior features that did not occur to us. We took his ideas in mind and were very happy with the “custom” design of the final construction drawings. Our negotiated building contract with LVC was shaped by a give-and-take set of terms for mutual goals and protections for the builder and the owners. We signed the contract in August 2009 and the home was completed in early December 2009. Bo helped us orient the home for a marvelous view of the mountains and worked tirelessly to clear the land for the best overlook. We visited the jobsite on a weekly basis and he was always available to discuss his schedule and to make some adjustments based on mid-construction reviews. Our experience with Bo Welch was always easy and always responsive on his part. We had many exchanges by e-mail that made a written record of options and choices during the building process to eliminate any misunderstandings. He listened to our color, style and feature selections for the various cost allowances in the contract and kept our costs within the budget boundaries. We strongly endorse LVC and Bo Welch as a superior home contractor with a value-driven, budget conscious and customer-friendly approach to business. Our new home draws continuous compliments from family and friends. For specific questions about our interaction with Bo, he has our encouragement to refer potential clients for more information.

We would like to provide a recommendation as to the quality of construction, the integrity of the employees, and the attention to detail that was recently given in the construction of our home. From the time of our first meeting with Bo we were impressed with his professionalism; and although his was not the lowest bid for the construction of our home, his was the most professionally done. Once we signed a contract, Bo kept in touch with us on every detail, making sure that we knew where he was in the process and inviting questions on our part. When the actual construction began, he was on site to make sure that the subcontractors were doing their jobs to his specifications and if not, to redo the work. Each subcontractor who was used exhibited professionalism in their dealings with Bo and with us. At no time did they make us feel unwelcome on the site.Bo also provided us with an update each step of the way. At the point where he and his employees took over the remaining work, there was never a day that we did not feel welcome at the site and were encouraged to ask questions and to offer input as to how everything was going. When changes had to be made, Bo always talked with us first, explaining the reasons. When we asked to make some changes, the request was handled with graciousness and willingness. When we made suggestions, if they were not feasible, Bo would explain in detail why and give alternatives. If we made suggestions that enhanced the construction, Bo was more than happy to follow through. At no time, when we asked something of his employees, were we treated unkindly or rudely. In fact, many times they went out of their way to see that the request was carried out.We sincerely recommend David “Bo” Welch and his employees (brothers Jimmy and Kenny) for their integrity, timeliness in getting the job done, and their willingness to “make the customer happy.

"I can say nothing but great things about our experience with Bo. We’ve been trying to do this for two years, encountering set back after set back. He went above and beyond our expectations in building our home. There were things he did to help us that you wouldn’t expect a builder to do. It was great to have an agent like Vicky to guide us through each step. With outstanding customer service, the two of them working together made it a seamless process. We are very thankful to Bo and Vicky. They’ll be in business for a long time helping people like us. I will definitely call upon them again for our next home!”

"We have an investment property in Front Royal, which had problems with a leaking door for years. We hired several handyman services who replaced and adjusted the door, added caulk and weather stripping, replaced the floors, and tried several other things to fix the problem. It cost us hundreds of dollars, probably more. But, the problem continued. Finally, our property manager suggested we call LVC. They came to the house and quickly diagnosed the problem – the deck was not set properly, therefore, the water continued to come in through the door to the kitchen floor. The problem was not the door at all! They relocated our deck – moving it down several inches – and added proper flashing, which corrected the problem. This sounds like a very big and expensive job, but LVC completed it in about a day, and we were shocked at how affordable it was. Our tenants were very complimentary of the service and demeanor of the crew that completed the work. That was several months ago, and the problem has not come back. We are very thankful to have a final resolution; and would call them FIRST if we ever had another issue."
